Songs prompts, oh, song prompts.

The song tells the story about the singer’s winning streak in an illegal game of Craps until a cop shows up and takes him to the courthouse. Turns out, the judge is an old ‘fishing buddy’ he owes money to, and he gives the singer 90 days in jail as a punishment. It’s a fun novelty song showing the ups and downs of the gambling life. His song is in the top 10 list because of all its references to gambling. Actually, it is a story about a man who does not want a committed relationship because he does not trust women, but it still has awesome gambling references. This concludes the list of the top 10 best gambling inspired songs.

If I’m honest, I have mixed feelings. I don’t really do writing by numbers. I get nervous around anything for songwriters that sounds like spoon-feeding. And I think the most important thing a songwriter – well, anyone – can learn is to think for themself.

Gambling has been the inspiration for movies, books and of course, songs. We’re going to take a look at 10 songs that’s lyrics were inspired by casino games! #1 – The House of the Rising Sun. A smash hit by The Animals, this song tells the story of a man who spent his life chasing his losses in a casino. “The Midnight Special.” An old, old folk song, the words first written down by Howard Odum in 1905, and first recorded in the 1920s. My favorite version is Leadbelly’s rendition, but Creedence is also great, and then there’s Belafonte’s 1962 cover, which starts with a hard-driving Dylan harmonica riff to start — supposedly the first piece of music Bob ever got recorded. But, you know, sometimes songwriters feel stuck in a rut. Sometimes songwriters aren’t sure where to begin. Sometimes songwriters need a burst of inspiration to get them back on track.
